Happy Halloween!!

Happy Halloween! I guess since it is actually Halloween, I thought I'd better have something Halloween up! So...I made this card for Alex - I guess it'll be cool enough for a 13 year old! Probably if I put something inside (besides Love, Mom), like money, it will go over real big! Anyway, I got this set, Just Jawing, as a freebie with a $350+ Stamp party (the special is good through the end of November). Although this wasn't one of my favorite sets, it was awesome to have for Halloween and it was FREE!! I chose it because it was one of the few I didn't already have! Anyway it does have some other cool pieces in it that I'll probably use separately for other occassions.

Thankful Thoughts!

Tonight was the Big Shot Top Note Die Class. We made this card and three other projects. Even though Halloween is tomorrow, we didn't make anything Halloween. I kinda feel like I'm becoming retail-minded in my card and project-making. Even though the holiday isn't officially even here yet, I'm already thinking of the next holiday! Anyway, the weather sure changed to more fall-like weather so it was fun to get into the fall-Christmas kind of mood! So... back to the card - it's a super-simple layout, but I really think the Top Note die dresses up any simple card! We used the Thankful Thoughts set - not a new one! - but just a nice fall look to it.

A Random Creation!!

Over the weekend, I was playing with some ideas for next month's First Friday Technique Class. So, I started this card, but never finished it - got to one of those "Now what??" moments! Anyway, I needed to see it finished; and this was what It turned out to be. It is a "Flap Card," just one long piece of cardstock with a flap scored at the top (or, in this sample, the flap is turned to the side) and then embellished. I like the colors, but something in the combo of it all still isn't quite right?! Anyway, that's the fun of it all - either start all over, keep changing things, or whatever - it is just cardstock!! I love the saying from the Level 1 Hostesss set though - Best Yet - it has a lot of versatile sayings!

Halloween Cards!

I just wanted to give you a close up of a couple of cute and easy cards from a stamping demonstrator friend of mine, Dena. What a great way to use up those pieces of Ghostly Greetings Designer series papers! She used the set "Eat, Drink and Be Scary" from the Holiday Mini catalog. I especially like the layout with all the circle punches - I could see making that card using different colors and papers, and recreating it for any occassion!

Top Note Flap Gone Wild!

So, I was working on a little treat cover today, and realized I was having one of those... Oh, but-this-would-look-cool, I-better-add-one-more-thing kind of stamping days!! You know you really should just stop, and call it done, but that one other thing "might" make it look better?! Anyway, I was having one of those days when I made this little treat cover. I like the idea of it, and I like all of the things on it, I just think I could have maybe rearranged or left some off! But I really do like these Hawaii Papaya Designer Series Papers! I didn't think they were my kind of colors, but they really have grown on me!

Top Note Owl!

I have seen a lot of versions of this little owl around lately, and I thought I'd make one to share too! He will be one of the projects we'll make at this week's Big Shot Top Note Class this Thursday night! (I'll be sending out more details about the class soon.) I really liked this owl because it's a couple of Top Notes and all the rest of his parts are Stampin' Up! punches. He was super fast and easy to make. The hardest part was digging out only the orange, brown and a few yellow peanut M & M's! I think I'll have to find another "body" to fill him with though so I'm not forced to eat all the rest of those green, red and blue peanut M & M's!!

Create a Calendar Kit

This is a super easy to put together kit that is available in the current Holiday Mini Catalog. I'm not always so into the kit ideas, but this one is really all together and easy to do, and I like how it came out!! I had placed a pre-order from the Holiday Mini a while back, and kinda just set aside this "Create-A-Calendar '09 Kit." But once I took it out and put it together - it took all of about 15 minutes or less, even with my add-on of the Rubi-coil spiral binding - I really liked it!! Sometimes it is OK to just put together someone else's idea; it doesn't all have to be original!! I have seen some other great ideas in assembling this though. I wish I would have put it together as shown (without the Rubicoil binding), but added one of Stampin' Up!'s Chipboard clipboards with it! You can then pull out the current month and clip it, while the rest of the year is stored in the folder of the rest of the months! You'll have to come to the next class to see it in person - A cute and quick gift to give!!

Mini Magazine File Box

So, here's the little box I was telling you about. It really is kinda small. It fits the three 3" x 3" cards (from the last post) and three envelopes. But it's just a piece of cardstock with some folds and cuts here and there, and it becomes a "mini" magazine file box! Of course, it's decorated with matching Urban Garden designer series papers, and couldn't resist a felt flower and specialty flower brad!! Maybe this will be an upcoming project for one of our First Friday Technique Classes...

Quick 3 x 3 Cards

I made these three quick 3" x 3" cards today. I used the words from the Pocket Silhouettes set and the Urban Garden designer series papers. The papers helped me put together the rest of the cards' color combinations - Love those designer series papers!! The cards aren't really that special or anything, just quick cards for a quick note or thank you. But wait till tomorrow, I'll post the super fun little box I made to put them in! You'll have to check back tomorrow!!

A Christmas Set in Disguise!

I received these two cards from Convention swapping back in August. They both use the set Party Hearty, which is still on special until the end of this month! I probably could have eventually come up with a card like the one on the left - a cute birthday card! But I probably would have had to have a real brainstorm to come up with the one on the right! - They turned those party hats into Christmas trees, just by making them tree colors and highlighting the tops! I'm not always so good at seeing things outside of the box - and some stamped things look like they weren't meant to be out of the box, if you know what I mean! - but I think this was a pretty good one! Anyway, kind of cool that this set could be used for a fun Christmas card too!
