Simple Masculine Cards

My husband needed a masculine get well card the other day, and this is what I made for him. The Open Sea stamp set is perfect for masculine cards!

 

And the same day my son needed a thank you card. Super simple, I used some retired designer paper (that actually came from the coordinating designer paper pack with the Open Sea stamp set). And I used the Thank You from the new Four You stamp set. - Can't get any easier than this one!!

Simple, Sweet and Sent!!

Today I made a little stack of Easter cards - and I EVEN mailed them out! I'm so bad... I make so many cards for class, swaps, and just to try out a new set - but sheesh, I hardly ever get them in the mail! One legitimate excuse though - I usually make cards with lots of layers and embellishments, which makes those ones hard to just drop in the mail with a single stamp on them.

So today's cards are a "one-postage-stamp" card! Hey, maybe I just coined a new trendy term! :)   

Mostly the cards I made were for my nephews, and a few family members. But I really am kind of proud of myself ;) I really need to get motivated earlier - and send more cards out! It felt good to know that they will probably all get them on or before Easter... And, I am finally coming to grips with not every card sent out has to be an original or a masterpiece!

Easter is on it's way!

Here's a card we'll be making at stamp class this Friday. And yep, Easter is on it's way! This card could easily be for any occasion - just by changing the saying. I like how using the oval gives the impression of an Easter egg - and, of course, using Happy Easter, makes it a great way to have an Easter card without having a bunch of Easter stamps.

 

And one of the other cool things on the card is the Flower Trim! I LOVE these flowers, and especially how you can add color to them so quick and easy. They are super pretty all on their own, but adding a touch of color makes them even prettier!!

Happy Mother's Day!

We celebrated Mother's Day a little early with a BBQ yesterday!  So this is the card I made for my mom.  I was inspired by a card made by Niki Toll that I saw a couple of months ago.  I love these little layered banners!

 

I love how colorful and fun all the papers from the Summer Smooches Designer Papers set are!  And it's so cool that you can make a quick card with a bunch of scraps, then just add a great saying.

A Very Vanilla Valentine's Day!

I think I'm always creating last minute!! So here I am today making Valentines for my hubby and my son! Luckily, I had saved some cool ideas from Pinterest for inspiration. So I didn't have to do too much thinking! This first one was for my husband - I like the simplicity of it! And I really like the little Modern Label piece 'half hanging' over onto the window, just over the edge of the heart! That was actually part that I thought to do on my own!

And I found this idea on Pinterest too - it's for my son! Pretty simple idea too. The Hearts punch is punched on one side then the piece was flipped over and punched to the other side; that's what gives the mirror-image of that punch. At first that was a little mind-trick on me (and it's only Tuesday!), but I figured it out pretty quick! Then I punched a small single heart in the center of them. It has a piece of Real Red DSP underneath, Delightful Dozen Valentine stamp - and Wah lah!

Simple Baja Valentine!

So who says Valentines can't be Baja?! Valentines are all about love after all - and I LOVE Baja - so Why Not?! It's a very simple card, with a simple layout. - But I love it all! So many fun new tools that give it those little extra touches!

I can't believe I had sort of forgotten about this set, Delightful Dozen. It was one of my must-haves when the new catalog came out in July. And then it got forgotten. Well I used the Merry Christmas one (which was just the other day!), but I had forgotten how many great, and cute different fonts are in the set. It makes it feel like a 'dozen' different styles. Guess that's why they chose the name?! Anyway, I love this Valentine saying! And I love how the little heart (from the Owl Punch) looks so cute in the open heart!

And all the fun new tools in our Occasions Mini - I used the Adorning Accents Embossing Folder with the little hearts on the Crumb Cake section. And I used the scalloped edge folder, from the same set, on the Baja edge. Then I used the coordinating Adorning Accents Edgelits die to cut the Baja edge. I LOVE how Stampin' Up! put these parts together - and how did they do it for less than 20 bucks?! - Sa-weeeet!!


Of course, the Baja Seam Binding and Designer Papers keep it all simple - but still interesting!

Tag with A Little Something!

I found these super cute little Lindor Truffle packages, and thought they'd be a cute quick gift for some of my co-workers. They're definitely just a "little something," but they're so cute. The package has 3 truffles in it, and they were just $1. I have to admit (cause I'm sure you want to know) that I got them at Walmart. I'm usually a Target shopper, but they do have some good things at Walmart. I just know when to go there - only first thing in the AM, before work, and only on a weekday. Otherwise, I just don't do Walmart :) Not to be snobby, it's just a little crazy during the day - and slow annoying lines to get out!

So, anyway, I didn't want to do too much to them. I will be making a few of them so I wanted to keep it simple!

So I made a tag with the Two Tags die, and added some "details!" I used the Scallop Circle punch and Red Glimmer Paper, then I used the 1 3/8" circle punch with a stamp from the Pines and Poinsettias set. I love that little image! And I was going to use a to/from stamp on the tag, but then I found this Christmas stamp in the Delightful Dozen set - luuuuvv it!! And love how it fits on the tag! - Not much room to put a 'to and from' now, but that's ok - it'll be a quick 'from Julie B!'

And my favorite part - the little clothespin with the bow to hold it together! (and we'll see how many little bows I can get done?!) - Love those clothespins, and it was 'needed' to hold the tag on - Perfect!

A Tribute to Liz!

Last night, at about this same time (midnight), I was making a few extra cards to fill some spots in our Expo booth. My 'assignment' was to use the Mocha Morning papers, and just keep the color scheme - no other parameters. So, I had maybe two to finish - and I had a fun, midnight 'I'm-pretty-tired'-kind-of-idea :)

I thought the striped papers in this paper pack are perfect for a man's shirt - so, here it is ~ a shirt card! It's an easy origami fold - (easy to google for the directions if you need them).

And, I made it in honor of Liz, one of my Stampin' Expo buddies! I completed the 'assignment,' and hope she likes my card.
