Simple 18 Flip Flop Card! - And I Did it Again!

I made this card for my son's 18th birthday last week. I kept it pretty simple because as he's told me, "All that matters is that it has a little pocket to put some cash in it. It doesn't need anything else." (So, I actually did make a little pocket on the backside of it for the cash! But I didn't take a picture of it!)

But I did want to use the new Thinlits Circle Card for the Big Shot! And it was super easy! I also figured that even if it was going to be a simple card, it had to have '18' on it for this special birthday.

And, once for the saying I wanted to use, it wouldn't fit. So, like I did with THIS CARD, I cut my saying in half - and then mounted it on the clear block. It made for a perfect fit onto the narrow space on the card. This saying came from the Four You stamp set.

And, once again, because the stamps are clear mounted, it makes it super easy to fit the words back together if I wanted to use them in their original orientation.

Have you done this with any of your clear mount stamps yet?

CASing My Own Field Flowers! And a Cool Surprise!

I was asked to make a sympathy card the other day, so I decided to CASE from my own card! HERE is the original that I made a while back as a Thank You card. I love the Field Flowers set!

In making it a sympathy card, I had a hard time finding any words that would fit in the small space. So, I took the 'With Sympathy' from the Loving Thoughts stamp set. And because the words were next to each other, and too long to fit in the small space, I decided to cut them in half!

And when I went to put them on the clear block, it was totally cool that the two (now) separate words nestled right together perfectly - and even stamped perfectly straight onto the card that way! It was like they were meant to be cut and rearranged that way! And the cool thing is that the two separate words can still be easily repositioned onto the clear block to be next to each other again. - So cool, huh?

Project Write Home!

Do you have a high school graduate going off to college this Fall?  How about a distant friend or relative that you’d like to hear from more often?  This little set will fit the bill!  Create the cover and the detailed insides, complete with divided inserts to fill all of the contents.  Add the handmade cards and envelopes, with the two-sided Stampin’ Write Marker – one side for writing, and the other side for stamping the personalized return address stamp for the envelope.  This sweet set will be sure to delight the recipient – and motivate them to Write Home!

This project was made by ME!! You can get the tutorial by subscribing to August over at Craft Project Central

I was inspired to make this project for my son, who will be going off to college at the end of this month. I was actually (happily) surprised that he said it was cool! He helped me pick out the paper choices, 'the more masculine looking ones,' for the card fronts. He even told me not to let too many people touch it at my stamp classes because he didn't want it all messed up when he takes it to school with him! :)
