Crazy for Fabric Flowers!

So I made this fabric flower pin - and I've become obsessed with fabric now!! I kinda loaded these pictures in backwards order. But this first picture is the first flower I made. They are Super-easy to make!! Years ago I did do some sewing, but I haven't sewed anything in a long time. So I was happy to find out that these can be made without any sewing!! I just used a hot glue gun for the whole thing. You might be wondering what this has to do with stamping, but it is made with the Big Shot and Flower Folds die.

I had bought the Flower Folds die and thought it would make a cute card, but never thought I'd be running fabric with the die! You run four coordinating fabrics through the die and then do layering to make the flower! On the back is a pin back so it can be attached to just about anything.

This is a picture of the flower my friend Liz made me for a gift! I wanted show you how cute they are attached to a tote bag. You can accent a plain old black bag with whatever color fabrics you have - kinda fun!

And here is the same flower on the cute scarves that Liz also made me! Cute and super fun on my winter coat!

Then here's the close-up, and hopefully clearer, picture of just the flower she made! It was the inspiration that got me thinking about the one I made! She used a covered button for the center of hers, which makes it perfect in matching the center with your fabric. But, if you're like me, and don't have a lot of sewing stuff, you can use any kind of button. And, if you go back up to the one I made, I used a corduroy button from my Stampin' Up! stash (it is a retired color though).

And, finally this is the adorable little Art Journal that Stampin' Up! sells, which Liz made for me. Another super-cute way to use the to-die-for Fabric Flowers!

There are some You Tube videos that other demonstrators have put out there to show how easy these are to make. Otherwise, give me a jingle and I'll help you to make one! I'm planning on incorporating it into an upcoming class too - so be on the look-out! Wouldn't it make a cute gift?

Have a great day~

I {Heart} Hearts for Haiti!

I wanted to share some more swaps I got at Leadership with you. I chose a bunch that are made with the set "I {Heart} Hearts"! I'm sharing those today to also let you know that Stampin' Up! is helping out the efforts in Haiti by donating a portion of the sales from this set. So, if you were considering this set anyway, why not help out a good cause at the same time! Stampin' Up! will give $2 to the Red Cross for every set purchased from now until February 28th.

The card above was made by Lisa Fast - our second demonstrator to reach $1,000,000 in sales with the company - that's a lot of stamps!!

This next card was made by Jen Sannes. She is an awesome stamper with a super cute personality. I just met her at Leadership!

And, this one is from my good buddy Chari Brooks, who I swap with A LOT!! You have seen a lot of her super-fab work if you been on my blog before!

And these final two were the other ones I made for the swap I did back in December. There are two others made with this set if you scroll back a few posts.

Kind of funny - I noticed that all these cards have the "friend" heart as the focal point. Guess that's a popular piece in the set; also it has a punch that fits with it - a good thing!! But there are 8 stamps in the set and there are 3 punches that coordinate with the set - heck if you get all that you can even earn a free Sale-A-Bration choice with the order!

Here's the scoop on the set; it's from the Occasions Mini Catalog.

Product Name Item # Price
I {Heart} Hearts - clear-mount (block D recommended) 118571 $18.95
I {Heart} Hearts - wood-mount 117010 $26.95

Hope you're enjoying your weekend!

A Little Thank You Giftie!

I made this little gift for a friend. I know the tag is hard to read in the picture, but it's a stamp from the Tiny Tags set, and it says "thanks {so much}". I used the new Sending Love Specialty Paper, the new heart punch, the new jewelry tag punch and the new scallop trim border punch.

The template for the project is real simple. It's a 3" x 7" piece of Pretty in Pink cardstock. Then it is scored at 3 7/8" and 4 1/8". After it's folded in half, the Word Window is punched from the top edge. You push the punch as far as it will reach. Then you have to punch a little to the left, and then again a little to the right. - You do that because the opening of the Word Window is a little too small for the candy to fit.

It's a simple little project, and of course you could do just a few of the details if you wanted to make a bunch! But, you gotta love some of the little fun things to add!

Have a good one,

Julie

Lovin' the Sweet Pea Stitched Felt!

At first I wasn't sure about buying the Sweet Pea Stitched Felt. I thought it seemed a little pricey. But now that I've seen it and touched it, I LOVE it!! And, you get 52 pieces and the quality is awesome. The stitches really show up nicely in person too. Typically, we use a stamped image for our focal point, but these little cuties are really stealing the show!

The two cards above were made by my upline, Tami. I love them both, but the one on the right has to be one of my all-time favorite cards - Honestly!! I love how she used the felt pieces for one, but it's just a nice, clean looking card. The words are Well Scripted from the Occasions Mini Catalog - loving the style of those new words!

This card on the left was made by my stampin' friend Dena. Love it's clean look too! It's hard to see, but the background is made with the new Polka Dot Impressions folder. And, the square piece behind the Sweet Pea Felt flower is the same Well Scripted word set, but stamped in White Craft ink on Vellum. - So subtle and pretty! On the right, I used the same felt flower, but on the new Mini Milk Carton box. It's little, but a fun cute size and easy as can be to make!

I hope you all have your Occasions Mini Catalog to pour over (and over and over!), cuz there are some awesome fun new things! If you need one, let me know and I'll get one for you.

One of my Leadership Swaps

Just a quick post to show you one of the swaps I made for the Leadership Conference. I really love the new bird punch and wanted to use it for a swap. So we had a planned swap with a small group and I made only about 10 of these.

A lot of the details are hard to see in the picture, but I used Frost White Shimmer Paint with alcohol to spray the Kraft background. I also used the Stampin Up! Backgrounds 1 Texturz plates to emboss that same piece (if you came to Friday's Technique class - that's what we did!). And I also used the Bella Bleu DSP to highlight the bird's wing and the little edge under the Soft Suede ribbon. And, most of all, one of my favorite part of the card is the overall color combination - Soft Suede, Kraft and Bordering Blue (I also used some Naturals Ivory). Such calming and pretty colors - and I love that the combination can be used for women, men, any kind of card or project - just nice!!

Hope you're having a great weekend!

PS - The saying is from the new set, Vintage Vogue! Beautiful new set that you'll see more of the parts VERY soon!

A Gift for My Leadership Roomie!

Boy, the time before leaving for the Leadership Conference was rushed!! In most cases, there's never enough time to do what you need to, but with the holidays right before, and then wanting to make swap cards, there just wasn't much time to do what I wanted. But I did want to bring my roommate a little gift! So, I had these little tea tins - they're about 5 1/2" tall. I used lots of new products from the Occasions Mini Catalog and decorated it pretty quickly.

I used some Designer Series Papers from the Sweet Pea Collection - very cute stuff (and I thought it was kinda pricey at $24.95 for the pack, but for 48 sheets it's a bargain - the regular stuff is 12 sheets for $9.95). So, anyway, I used that paper to coordinate the rest, using the new Sweet Pea Stitched Flet on top, and some Chocolate Satin Ribbon around it. I even used the new Sale-A-Bration scallop border punch - LOVIN' that!! And, I used the new set Vintage Vogue - love that too! I guess I'm lovin' a lot of the new stuff!

So, then inside I put some "Flings." If you haven't heard of them, they're super yummy chocolates. They're like a Twix bar, but they have kinda crisp, but kinda soft inside - no caramel. You just gotta try them!? Good! Got them at Target.

Well, I'll be back soon to post some of the swaps I got at Leadership!

Have a good one,

Julie

Technique Friday Here We Come!!

Here's one of the projects we'll be making this Friday! I can't wait to show it to you!! And just wait until you feel the weight of this box. It's a box made from a window sheet, but it's the Thick Window Sheet - and it is awesome!! It is really substantial. I know our Medium Weight Window Sheets would have worked just great, but I think these Thick Sheets are super-awesome quality. ~ Built to last! You'll see! Oh, and here's a picture to show how the lid lifts off.

We'll also being using the new set, With All My Heart, and the new Specialty Designer Series Papers, Sending Love. The new paper has built-in glitter; it's too cool! I hope you'll be joining us for class this Friday. We'll be making some other super fun and cute cards too. Please RSVP to julieb30@hotmail.com so I'll be sure and have supplies ready for you!

Thanks for stopping by,

Julie

I'm Back from Leadership!

This is some sort of a miracle!! I got a new laptop for my birthday (back in mid-December), and I got a new camera (maybe in May of last year). So I've been using the new camera since then - and not been able to even download the pictures to our home computer, let alone either my old or new laptop. But here I am tonight - new laptop and new camera and I'm actually posting a picture from my new camera!! I can hardly stand it! Of course, I have had some help (Thanks Liz from stopping me from throwing my new laptop out the window!!). You know those love hate relationships with our technology!

OK, so enough of my blathering... This picture is our last lunch at the Leadership Conference last week. What a blast it was!! The picture is me, Dena, Liz and Chari. They're all my swapping buddies that you've probably heard of, and seen lots of their work here!

Thanks for stopping by - I can't wait to show you some of the awesome stuff we did and saw at Leadership!

I'll be back!! Soon!

Happy Stamping,

Julie

Another I {Heart} Hearts Card

Well, here's another card using the I {Heart} Hearts set. If you haven't guessed, it's the set that I'm making swaps for with the new Occasions Mini Catalog! So, I have a couple more I'll show you soon. But I'll be off to Stampin' Up!'s Leadership Conference for the next few days! I can't wait!! I will definitely have more to share when I'm back!

This card was the first one I created for the swap I'm in. It uses Regal Rose, Soft Suede, Kraft and Whisper White cardstocks. I used the Polka Dot embossing folder for the background, with some White Craft ink to highlight the dots. I also used the White Gel Pen to highlight some dots in the heart. The Happy Valentine's Day stamp comes from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set (can't live without that one!!).

I'll look forward to posting when I'm back on Saturday to share some more!!

Thanks for stopping by,

Julie

PS If you haven't already checked out the Occasions Mini catalog, you can view it online at http://www.stampinup.com/ and click on products, then current catalogs. And, you can download it there. They are in the mail to you also so you can see the real version soon! (Sorry for the delay!)

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year!! - And, let's jump right into Valentine's Day!?! It will be here before we know it! I think this is the first year that I noticed Valentine's stuff in stores before Christmas was even here. Kinda crazy! So maybe I'm not too crazy though to be posting a Valentine's card for New Year's! Anyway, I guess it really is just a love card.

So, on to the details... I used a lot of new stuff from the upcoming Occasions Mini Catalog! The card colors are Cameo Coral, Pretty in Pink and Going Gray. I used the new Sending Love Specialty Designer Series Papers. They have great hints of glitter on many of the pages - Nice!! On the piece used here (not sure how well you can see it), the detail lines are all glitter. I added a little glitter to the gray heart edge also. The hearts are all stamped from the I {Heart} Hearts set, and the words are from the Well Scripted set (love that one!!). The little scalloped rectangle piece in the center is a new notecard pre-cut called "Hugs." Kind of nice that they're all ready to go! - Just stamp on them. They also have coordinated envelopes if you want to just make a cute little notecard by itself.

Hope you are off to a good start for 2010!

Thanks for stopping by,

Julie
